We had a request to supply a client with data captured on our system. They needed an extraction once a month. I decided that we need to create an API that will allow clients to import and extract data captured on our system.I did a lot of research and found that an ASP.NET Web API will satisfy the clients request. Below are the steps on how to create a new Web API Project:
- Open Visual Studio
- File > New > Project
- Expand the following tree-view notes
- Installed
- Templates
- Visual C#
- Web
- Select ASP.NET Web Application
- Complete the following fields and click on OK
- Name
- Location
- Solution Name
- Select the Empty template and the tick the Web API option under the "Add folder and core reference for" header
- Click on the OK button
And that is how you create an ASP.NET Web API project.
